The Struggle to Overcome Negative Thinking

Published by darlene721 at 11:46 am under 1 Edit This

It has always puzzled me why it seems to be so much easier for negative thoughts to persist in the mind than positive ones. We have to work much harder to hold onto positive thoughts. It seems a natural part of human nature to always think the worst. One has to wonder if it is our genetic disposition. We’re fully aware that negative concepts become ingrained in the psyche throughout the course of our lives through experience but reprogramming our brains to replace those negative concepts with positive ones can be a real challenge.

Positive affirmations and visualization techniques offers a good starting point but it can still be a long, tedious path as we constantly backslide into negative patterns. It can be easy to get discouraged but that’s when we have to muster all the determination we can to persevere and move forward along the positive path.

Make a list of positive affirmations and repeat them faithfully every morning and night. Repeat them as often as you can. You might feel like you’re wasting your time but you’re not. Be patient. Set a timeframe. See what positive changes have taken place in your life 3 months from now, 6 months or even a year from now. You didn’t develop that negative mindset in a few days or a week. It will take time to replace it. Each time you are faced with a challenge don’t imagine the worst case scenario but view it from the highest point of perception.
